Eucalyptus Globulus

Earthy. Bold. Rich. Smells like a spa. Take a Eucalyptus & Lavender Epsom salt bath...or diffuse together! I just realized that Euc Globulus is an oil in my favorite Orthosport massage oil! It feels so good rubbed into muscles after exercise. It is also found in one of my family's most used essential oil blends, RC. Having a wild Friday night over here slathering this oil diluted on chests & watching Moana. I redeemed Essential Rewards points for RC the minute it came back in stock the other day...and it can't get here fast enough!

Sprinkling Oils Like Confetti

Flash back to this cutie so proud of the roller recipe he came up with all by himself: Thieves + 🍋 + Lime = A's happy roller. Flash forward to his pre-school teacher telling me he has been sharing his roller with his classmates- going to each one, having him or her sniff it & applying to their wrists. He straight up has oiled his whole class! (I kept trying to see if the bottle was leaking because I couldn't figured out why so much of it was gone.) Now his teacher (convinced of their goodness the F DA won't let me mention) invited me to hold a little oil class over lunch for all his friends' Mamas! And now she diffuses in the classroom too!

Mighty Oaks From Little Acorns Grow

I'm sending some happy mail to one of my biz builder's builder's builder's builders. Everyone loves a little recognition/to feel special about their accomplishments! I'm thankful for every.single.person. on my team, no matter how many levels down in my organization they are! I believe that even though I may lack in other areas, encouragement may just be one of the gifts God gave me.

Curried Chicken Salad Recipe (perfect for playdates!)

I was so happy when Olive helped me whip up my fave curried chicken salad of all time today...and actually liked it! This has been my go-to for Mamas at playdates for 11 years.

Mix 2.5 cups shredded chicken (if you are making a whole chicken in your instant pot for soup/broth/taco meat, etc., you could reserve some for this!) with 6 TBL mayo (Sir Kensington's is my fave brand = gluten and soy-free/made with free-range eggs), 1/2 tsp grated orange peel, 1.5 tsp juice from an orange (or 2-3 drops Young Living Orange Vitality oil), 1 tsp curry powder, a cup of halved seedless grapes & 1/4 cup thinly sliced green onions. Serve on gluten-free ciabatta or pita (croissants & naan are other options for non-gf peeps) alongside sparkling water with citrus vitality oils added.

Stop & Smell the Jasmine

When you are out and about & need to stop to smell the flowers. 😉 The Jasmine flower symbolizes hope & happiness. Its heavenly scent is uplifting when simply smelled from the bottle (like my Olly is doing)! Every day I put a drop in my palm, rub my hands together, run through my curls then cup my hands and breathe deeply.

This little light of mine....

I've finally chosen my word for 2017! SHINE.

Shine: To give out a bright light, glow with reflected light, direct a light in order to see in the dark, be bright with the expression of a particular emotion, perform well

I truly want to be a spark in the dark. A darkness chaser. This world can be too much at times...I'd love to be a light, reflecting God's love. "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine...let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!" I have such big plans for Take Care | Be Good...and it all revolves about helping others & giving back!

Nothing says love like homemade chicken soup!

When your little buddy is home sick from school, Mama makes homemade chicken soup with rainbow carrots and Vitality oils in the Instant Pot! I made an entire chicken per Raising Generation Nourished's recipe with broth instead of water...deboning the chicken and adding it back into the broth. I usually serve this with gluten-free egg noodles...but today Ave just slurped up the broth and ate the chicken. This is one of his favorite foods, & he has no idea how nourishing it is!

Make your own non-toxic perfumes!

One of my favorite things to make with my Young Living oils is all-natural perfume.  Raise your hand if you've replaced synthetic perfumes with oily goodness! My favorite perfume blends (just add carrier oil with blends in a roller bottle) are Inner Child & Acceptance. My Fall/Winter vibes roller blend that I've mentioned in past posts is Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood + Frankincense + Bergamot. My husby even uses this woodsy magic as cologne! My favorite single oils for perfume are Jasmine (YUM!) or Patchouli. I'd love to hear your favorite combinations!

These whimsical roller bottles are from my friend Haylee's Whimsy & Wellness shop!

Pumpkin Spice Mini Muffins With Young Living Vitality Oils

These are yummy with or without the frosting!
Pumpkin Spice Mini Muffins/Cupcakes with Ginger, Nutmeg, and Cinnamon vitality oils
(Recipe adapted from Ina Garten’s Pumpkin Cupcakes with Maple Frosting)

Ingredients for the Muffins/Cupcakes
1 cup all-purpose or einkorn flour (I used gluten-free Cup 4 Cup flour!)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
4 drops Cinnamon Vitality oil (or 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon)
2 drops Ginger Vitality oil (or 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger)
2 drops Nutmeg Vitality oil (or 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg)
2 extra-large eggs, at room temperature
1 cup canned pumpkin purée (8 ounces), not pie filling
1/2 cup granulated sugar (I used coconut)
1/2 cup light brown sugar, lightly packed (coconut or organic)
1/2 cup vegetable oil (I used coconut oil...make sure it is melted when you measure!)

Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Brush or spray the top of 10 muffin tins with oil and line with 10 paper liners, or use 20-25 mini muffin tins.

2. Into a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg. In a larger bowl, whisk together the eggs, pumpkin purée, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and oil. Add the flour mixture and stir until combined.

3. Divide the batter among the prepared tins (I use a level 2 1/4-inch ice cream scoop for large muffins) and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Set aside to cool completely.

4. Spread the cupcakes with the Maple Frosting if using.

Ingredients for the Maple Frosting - optional

6 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar

Directions for the Maple Frosting

In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream the cream cheese and butter on low speed until smooth. Stir in the maple syrup and vanilla extract. With the mixer still on low, slowly add the confectioners' sugar and mix until smooth and desired thickness is achieved.

Homemade Play Dough With Calming Oils

Kelly of @TheEssentialRN loves making homemade play dough for her kidlets = the perfect way to spend time together, let them get creative and unwind a little! For this batch, she used Stress Away, Lavender & Cedarwood & put her cookie cutters to good use! I just might break out my rare Peace & Calming oil for this recipe!

Homemade play dough recipe:
Add 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup salt, and 2 tsp cream of tartar to a medium saucepan and mix. Add 1 cup water, 1 Tbsp olive or veggie oil, and stir all over low - medium heat. When mixture forms to soft dough, remove from heat, knead & divide into 3 sections. Add natural food dye if desired (we used a beet and made ombre dough) & 10-15 drops Young Living essential oils of your choice, then let the little hands work them through.

Epsom salts + oils = heavenly!

There is something so relaxing about an Epsom salt & oils bath! Even my kiddos look forward to them! Olly & Ave take a Lavender bath to relax before bed, & my oldest takes Panaway/Copaiba baths after soccer games & basketball practice!

Epsom salts act as a dispersant so the essential oils won't float on top &, ahem, burn your bits. You don't want that! Not only are Epsom salts great for helping the oils dissolve in your bath, they also provide your body with magnesium...adding an extra calming element! You can also add sea salts or baking soda to your baths if you'd like.

I have been saving my empties for awhile now, and my little guy had fun helping me put 80 (!) bottles into this gigantic glass jar from Target with a whole lot of Epsom salts. He stopped to sniff every Lemon bottle, telling me it was his favorite scent. Soooo many different oils went into this mix! I did leave out ones I deemed not worthy of a spa-like experience, aka Digize & Immupower! Ha!

What is YOUR favorite Epsom salt bath combo?

Off to KC for a retreat!

Leaving the Essential Families (our umbrella team) retreat in Kansas City so filled up! I know it's cliche, but they are my oily tribe. These girls right here are my friends first, business builders/Take Care Be Good leaders second. Cindy, Juleen & Amber made it a priority to be here, & I'm so thankful for them!

I also got to spend some quality time with my oily bestie, Trisha, who I met through Essential Families! SO THANKFUL for all the relationships I've built these past 3 years!

Move-in Day

My heart is brimming. When we moved back to Chattanooga, away from our friends & families once again, we had no idea what was in store for us. But God knew. We see His hand of provision & how He orchestrated the tiniest of details for us. Since we were never able to sell our house before we moved to the Northeast, we rented it out & were able to live there the past 3 years. (!) Then this beautiful Tudor that has been on the market for a year fell into our laps AND our friend & realtor Emily sold our house without it being on the market. What?! We also didn't foresee Roby's promotion. It may be trying at times because of his constant work travels, but he works so hard & is a rock star at what he does! (He'll hate that I said that, but he truly is a talented guy, & his team members have told me he is one of the best bosses they have ever have!)

And, guys! My Young Living business is my legit CAREER! I am so honored to have 2,000+ people on my team & enjoy supporting & educating my members in this oily journey. I get to do this with some of my closest friends. Is this real life? Thank you all for the team work that makes the dream work!

So so thankful to God for His provision & in awe we get to make this house a home!

(Because I mentioned my business, I must also provide Young Living's Income Disclosure Statement.)

Magical Jasmine

A few months ago, I raved about a Jasmine plant one of Roby's Mom's friends gave me to grow. I am OBSESSED with the scent of Jasmine...the magical way it floats through the air...it's like a siren call to me!

In college, I wore a Jasmine roller perfume that I adored, but it turned my skin rashy & I couldn't wear it. So when my package arrived, I ripped it open so fast to smell the REAL DEAL Jasmine oil. Guys!!!! It transported me back to 1998! I'm in love!  The best part? It was FREE because I redeemed Essential Rewards points for it! If you aren't on ER, DO IT! And then you too can have a floral siren's call in a bottle!

Jasmine oil facts:

+Jasmine is known in India as "queen of the night" & "moonlight of the grove" & has been treasured for centuries for its aphrodisiac-like scent.

+It is a member of the OLIVE family...how perfect is that?! (My daughter's name.)

+It takes 1 THOUSAND pounds of Jasmine or 3.6 MILLION unpacked, fresh blooms to make one pound of Jasmine oil. The blossoms must be collected before sunrise, or much of the fragrance will evaporate. They must not be crushed either.

+A pound of pure Jasmine oil costs $1,200, whereas synthetic Jasmine (what my skin couldn't handle) costs $3.50 per pound & has no beneficial constituents.

Clarity

Clarity is a blend of Basil, Peppermint, & Rosemary essential oils. It invites a sense of clarity & alertness = aka my daughter's best friend! She has used it since Kindergarten, & I can't believe we haven't put it back into her routine yet this year! She puts a dab on the back of her neck (& sometimes on her big toes = vitaflex points for the brain) before school. She also puts a smudge on her shirt collar so she can sniff it whenever she needs it.  Oils are so helpful when inhaled/diffused! Back in her daily routine Clarity goes!
